You have asked and we have answered - we have compiled a list of our most Frequently Asked Questions and we have answered each and every one of them! Here they are ladies:
Q.My nails are tacky after curing - is this normal?
A. While the lamp cures the polish it is very normal for there to be tacky residue on the nail. This allows the next layer of polish to securely adhere to it creating our famous long-lasting manicure. To remove the tackiness simply wipe the nail with an Alcohol Wipe after curing your Top Coat.
Q. My polish is chipping after a couple of days, what's wrong?
A. Chipping can be caused by several factors. The usual suspect is that the nail hasn't been sufficiently cleaned prior to applying the Base Coat. We recommend filing and trimming the nail first, then thoroughly cleaning the nail with 100% Pure Acetone. Other nail polish removers or wipes generally do not clean the nail well enough leaving residual oils and dirt on the nail which stop the polish adhering. This is why we recommend 100% Pure Acetone.
The other offender is 'capping' the nail. We recommend painting a bead of polish along the free edge of the nail. This creates a seal around and under the nail and helps prevent chipping. We suggest doing this for all coats i.e. Base, colour and Top Coats.
Q. I can't get my foils to stick!
A. Foils can be a little tricky to get the hang of. But it's just like riding a bike - once you've got it you're on a roll! For our tips and tricks on how to apply Foils check out our blog post dedicated on how to use themhere.
Q. How can I stop my Striping Tape from lifting?
A. Let's start off by saying that Striping Tape is not a long lasting product. It most likely will not last as long as your manicure. However, there are a few things you can do to help your tape to last a little longer.
Don't go over the edge of your nail, stay a millimetre or two in from the edge to stop it from catching on anything. Another trick is to apply a second coat of Top Coat. This will add an extra layer of polish holding the tape secure. If you're unsure of what to do with your Striping Tape check out the blog post here.
Q. I'm having trouble removing my manicure - do you have any tips?
A. We cannot stress enough how important it is to remove your manicure with 100% Pure Acetone. Nail polish remover is not strong enough to soften the polish so you can remove it without damaging your nail. We recommend soaking your nails for at least 10-15 minutes before attempting to remove your mani. If you've added a few extra coats of polish allow the full 15 minutes for soaking. Most of your polish should then wipe off with a little bit of pressure. If you have stubborn bits you have 2 options - if they're small gently push them off with a cuticle stick or pop your nails back in the Removal Wrap or Manicure bowl for an extra couple of minutes and try again. It is so important for the health of your nail that you take the time to remove it properly!
Q. Some of my polishes are thick and gluggy - what can I do?
A. Some polishes are thicker than others so it's very normal for some of the polishes to be thick. We suggest rubbing the polish between your hands for a minute or two. This will help evenly distribute the pigment and may make the polish easier to work with. If you've had the polish for a while the pigment may have settled. We recommend the same shaking method. If you're noticing clumps in the polish it may be that your polish has been stored incorrectly and the polish is starting to turn. Try regularly taking the polish out and working as mentioned above - do this a few times and see if it helps. If the polish is too far gone there is nothing that can be added to the polish which is why we recommend correct storage. Not sure how to correctly store your polish? Check out our blog post here.
Q. Some of my polishes are really thin - is this normal?
A. Yes it's very normal! You will notice that you may have some polishes that are thicker or thinner than others. This is due to the pigment of the polish. If you're finding your polish is a little sheer and wanting a fuller coverage you can do more than 2 coats! Or you can paint an opaque base like Snow White or Vanilla and then your chosen shade on top.
