The Ombré or Gradient Mani is taking the nail art world by storm! It is an easy way to make your old colours new again. While it can look a little daunting the wonderful Alyce has shared with us her easy step-by-step tutorial on how to create this look.
How To - Ombré Mani
Clean and prep nails with 100% Pure Acetone. Apply Base Coat and cure.
Choose 2 colours to create your mani. (You can use more than 2, but you'll need more space for the gradient (i.e. longer nails), it becomes more intricate the more colours you use, so it's best to begin with 2.)
TIP: The more similar your colours are, the easier they are to blend, but contrasting colours show the gradient better. (e.g. Lilac and Flamingo Rose blend very easily, but don't stand out as much as, say, Vanilla and The Black of Night).
Apply one of the colours to the bottom half of your nail, from the cuticle up. Then apply the other colour from the tip of the nail down, until they meet in the middle. Don't worry if the colours run into each other, remember you're going to be blending them!
Now to apply the gradient! Using the sides of Fan Brush (found in the Nail Art Brush Set) gently smudge the colours where they meet in the middle. Do a few light strokes in each direction to apply more of each colour into the opposite section of nail. Once the colours have blended a bit (remembering this is just your first layer), cure the polish.
TIP: If you get any polish on your skin, remember to wipe it off with an Alcohol Wipe before curing.
Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you're happy with the level of coverage and blending.
Finish with a layer of Top Coat, remembering to cover the free edge at the tip of your nail, so your mani lasts longer and cure.
Wipe nails with an Alcohol Wipe to remove the sticky residue.
